English at Highfield Humanities College

Our English Department has nine well equipped, modern rooms. All have Promethean Interactive White Boards and fully amplified sound systems which can be used to deliver superb audio and visual experiences to our pupils.

All pupils at Highfield Humanities College study English at both Key Stage 3 and 4. The vast majority then go on to succeed at GCSE in both English Language and English Literature.

Pupils who have weak skills in this area are supported with extra Literacy lessons in both Key Stages.

Highfield is also piloting Adult Literacy Courses with Edexcel on-line testing.

Theatre visits, Reading Club, live Drama in school and visiting poets all add an extra depth to the experiences our children enjoy.
