Geography at Highfield Humanities College

Geography is taught to all pupils in Key Stage 3 and is available as a GCSE Option in Key Stage 4.  We offer both Short and Full Course GCSE Geography.

Our Geography classrooms are all equipped with Interactive Whiteboard Technology, with fast broadband internet, allowing pupils access to the resources of the World Wide Web.

Our Geography courses all contain a wide range of practical assignments which the children enjoy.  In year 7, for example, after studying volcanoes pupils are asked to make a detailed model of a real volcano and it is then packed with chemicals which when lit, demonstrate an actual eruption! Pupils particularly enjoy this activity which can lead to spectacular results.

Many field visits and trips take place throughout the school year and I have made links to a few pages on the pupils' web site that show some photographs of recent events.
