Curriculum Overview KS3
Our scheme of work for Years 7 and 8 is based on the National Strategies Framework for Secondary Mathematics. Pupils begin work on the GCSE syllabus in September of Year 9.
Pupils experience a variety of learning activities including making models, problem solving tasks, online interactive lessons and traditional written exercises.
Homework is set once per week. Homework tasks may involve researching a topic, completing a written exercise, solving a mathematical problem, completing an online task or revising for an assessment.
Curriculum Overview KS4
We follow the Edexcel Linear specification for GCSE Mathematics . All students are currently entered for the examination in November of Year 11. Following publication of the results in January students are re grouped with the most able following an extension course which is both excellent preparation for AS/A level and provides them with the opportunity to gain a further qualification in mathematics. Other students either complete a functional skills qualification or choose to work towards a higher grade in the summer.
