Accommodation and Equipment

The ICT Department consists of three purpose built ICT suites. Every classroom is fitted with approximately 25 TFT Flatscreen Dell Computers and a colour DELL laser printer.
Interactive whiteboards and array of ICT peripherals such as headphones, digital video cameras, webcams and claymation accessories provide a stimulating environment for learning and progress.
When we move to our new building in September we will be fully equipped with the Apple Computer System. iMacs, iPods, iPads and Apple Notebooks will repalce our current Windows PCs.

Curriculum Overview KS3
Pupils enjoy 1 hour of ICT per week following an enhanced National Curriculum learning ICT skills and capability. As well as the basic communication, data handling and modelling units, the pupils also gain experience of digital photo editing, Flash multimedia, website design, video editing and stop-frame animation. Pupils can access their learning via an Internet-based Managed Learning Environment both in and out of school.
Curriculum Overview KS4
At Key Stage 4, the students may opt to study the OCR Nationals in ICT to gain a vocational qualification equivalent to a Grade A* to C GCSE. Many pupils go on to achieve two GCSE equivalents studying a variety of units over 2 years. The mandatory Unit 1 covers ICT Skills in Business. The additional units are chosen from multimedia design, web graphics, video and sound editing. The course is 100% coursework. The department has achieved a 100% pass rate for the past 3 years. Additional support is offered after school and pupils can track their own progress in the lessons. Pupils can access their learning via an Internet-based Managed Learning Environment both in and out of school in paper or electronic form.
