Mrs L. Marr, Head Drama
Pupils are taught a unit of Drama in KS3. They use drama to explore issues such as bullying, peer pressure, running away from home, gambling and the impact of redundancy on the family. Pupils are introduced to the drama techniques of still image, thought tracking, role play, cross-cutting, conscience alley, monologues and stylised drama.
GCSE Drama is offered in Year 10 and 11. Pupils follow a mostly practical Programme of Study which covers a wide range of explorative strategies, medium and elements of drama. Year 11 is the Assessment Period. Pupils complete two, 6 hour, assessed practical workshops and attend a live Theatre Performance, both of which they must write about. Finally, they work as a group to devise their own piece of drama to perform to a visiting examiner.
