Wed 17 Jul 2002 15:25:30 CEST Hello all. After leaving school I went to Blackpool Sixth Form College where I somehow got A's in English Literature, Media Studies and General Studies and a B in Psychology. I decided to go to the University of Wales in Bangor because it was one of the few places that did the course I wanted. Bangor is a top place and I recommend it to any current pupils who want to go on to university (although you probably aren't thinking that far ahead). It's a lot smaller than Blackpool and half the population are students. This is a good thing as big cities intimidate me. I have just graduated from there with a 2:1 in English and Film Studies which I am very pleased with as I nearly dropped out @ the end of my second year due to serious problems. I now plan to take 2 years out to work and pay off all the sizeable debts that I quite happily amassed. In that time I plan to form a giant, world-conquering rock band and write a book about my university experiences. I then plan to go to the University of East Anglia in Norwich and do a Master's degree in Creative Writing. School was a very interesting time for me and I am very grateful to all of my teachers who helped and encouraged me (there are too many to name). Their faith gave me the confidence that other pupils sought to destroy. It's a very difficult time in your life but it's also the best. College and university are pretty much the same, although to an even greater extreme. Most of my best memories come from my final year. I really enjoyed helping Mr. Forrest with his year 7 tutor group, although it's kind of strange to think that they have all left now, and it makes me feel my age. If there are any on this site then drop me a line. This is an excellent website and it is making me all sentimental, so I better be off.

Tue 16 Jul 2002 01:16:12 CEST I have to admit that when I was at school I didn't fully appreciate what a good time I had. It's when you leave that you realise that your school days are the best of your life -even if it is an old cliche! I miss Mr Westhorpe's bombs going off, sports day, class assemblies, playing netball and hockey, pottery lessons and if I didn't have Mr Lowe as my Maths teacher I would never have passed my GCSE! If any of my old teachers read this, sorry if I was a bit cocky, but I have grown up now so thanks for putting up with me! Yes, I do still support the Mighty Pool!

Mon 01 Jul 2002 01:59:16 CEST Highfield, dear old Highfield. Great school - awful at Rugby (is this still the case?). Where are you now? - Derek Williams(my nemesis), Lucy Stephens (Head Girl), Abigail Cunliffe (cause of childhood heartache). Can anyone supply the following photos - 1986 5th year group picture 1984 cast photo - My Fair Lady 1986 Evening Standard picture of Lucy Stephens & yours truly outside school gate Any picture of Gill Burrows ! (I'm not serious but the boys who attended in the mid-eighties will remember her fondly) Admin's Comment: No Steven - have a look at the recent Rugby pages I've added. Mr Fenton and Mr Pinder have done great things and now Highfield is a very strong rugby school - Pete Westhorpe webmaster
