 | Mon 21 Jan 2002 07:20:02 CET Hey all at Highfield! I'm sat in my managers office as im assistant manager at a large toy company talking to you all. Ok ok maybe not. But I miss all you lot, pupils, teachers, everyone. I suppose the school has gained points in school reviews now I have left and maybe Mrs Woods has regained her sanity. Any pupils reading this here's a piece of advice! You may be hating school but trust me, when your gone, you will miss it like mad! When you get together with friends all you do is remanisce about 'that day' and 'remember him' 'cant belive Westhorpe did that'. so just trust me enjoy every minute of you school life. You only have a few years to complete so make tha most out it! goodbye for now I will be back with more advice! Scott Lambert p.s Mr Westhorpe thanks for all your help and I got the grades I needed | | | Colin
 | Fri 18 Jan 2002 10:22:49 CET I have fond memories of Highfield. Miss Bloomer was the head for the first couple of years , followed by Mr Woodcock. I remember Mr Swift, Mr Taylor, Mr Hinchcliff, Mr Kay, Mr Breeze, Bill Yates and Miss Stott. Mr Pugh, my last form teacher, was a man teaching 20 years too early. What a great guy. Although I now live & work in Bahrain, I still have a house in Thornton. I was home at Christmas and had the pleasure of being given a guided tour of the old school by Joyce Howarth. It was nice to see the old place after 30 years. I can also confirm Joyce makes a good cup of coffee. Thanks for taking the time to show me around Joyce. Colin Ingledew 1967-71 | | | Louise
 | Wed 16 Jan 2002 11:06:40 CET Although I was never academically minded, and I have to admit I did not always like school, they were the best years of my life but I wouldn't want to go back either. I am the mother of 4 children 2 of which still attend Highfield, I believe Highfield to be an excellent school and fought hard to get my son in it. Keep up the good work Highfield. | | | Linda Walker (nee Me
 | Tue 15 Jan 2002 07:28:15 CET I put my first message on this site before reading all the others. Now I have read them and found so many familiar names and surnames of younger siblings that I must have been at school with. I do have a message for Janet Peel, when I read your message it made me laugh so much and yes I do remember you, but fancy remembering me because of cross country, I might have always won but I hated it to unless it was in a competition, I must have won because it was always so cold and I never got warm so this must have been the only way. I have to say Mrs Rawcliffe did do me some good because I went on to run for the RAF and swim so it wasn't all for nothing. The names of the people you recalled I remember as well as some more such as Emma Peate, Lisa Peate Kerry Hall Sarah Anyon Kate Illingworth(yes talking about fancying boys I always liked Darren Holroyd and so did Kate we fell out over him if only I realised then that the boys really weren't worth it) I also remember a girl called Andrea Simpson I think we all went to France together and again we all fell out over boys but can you believe they were 4th years agggg. Some other names obviously Wessy Westhorpe, who could forget that name and Bilbo the real life bear from hell!!!!! I am sure you remember that one in the woods. Midnight hikes that certainly had me convinced and a lot of others how dare you really frightening 12 / 13 year olds to death, however, you can be just as convincing & frightening might I add !!! at 17. I have read your bikers diary for charity, it was great raising money for charity like that, but you always did have a good heart hope you enjoy many more camps. There was also Mr Hinchliffe, Mr Gregory, Mr Owen, Mrs Wilson I think (English teacher) oh and of course for those of you who remember the delightful Mr Bibby (French) he left in 1987 though. Oh I am sure I will remember many more names and I will keep looking at all the messages that are posted, and as someone put in another message it is sad | | | Linda
 | Tue 15 Jan 2002 06:03:54 CET Hi to all who remember me Linda Mercer probably remembered for the wrong things but try sport swimming and running is my name still in the record books? I actually saw Peter Westhorpes name at friends reunited and thought oh yes I remember him hope your well Pete, I think the camps stick in my mind most that when you saw the real Pete Westhorpe oh and of course don't forget those bombs you used to make when you'd wake the whole school up. highfield was a fab place to be and I find it hard to believe that now just turned 30 last week I could have almost gone through it all again, I know that makes me feel old so god only knows what others must feel like. Take care and get touch anyone out there Linda xxx | | | Emma Peate
 | Tue 08 Jan 2002 12:00:43 CET Great site very interesting to see how the old place is doing although I am quite scared that I am so curious (after all my parents do still live next door)!! Now live in Manchester fab place to live and I love it. Would love to see old pupil pictures from years that I was there (86 - 91) Cheers xx | | | Margaret Martin (now
 | Thu 03 Jan 2002 10:07:51 CET Great to see how the school is now and I like this part of it! I have visited Dave Mendes' web page and the old school photos he has posted bought back memories of forgotten people even if it was only the male contingent. I have a brother Tony and sister Helen who also were at Highfield. I came to Canada in 1974 and worked as a graphic artist until I had children, I still dabble. Helen is here also, and is a legal secretary in a law firm (I work in the library at the same firm) Tony has just settled down to raise his 3 young children after spending many years in Holiday on Ice as a 'clown' and traveling all over the world with his wife who was a figure skater...our family all skated and have fond memories of the 'rink' at the Pleasure Beach. I have a younger brother Andrew but he did not go to Highfield. It is AMAZING that at the last posting of April 2001 it stated that Miss Bloomer was alive and well...so many people have memories of her. Is anyone organising any reunions? my e-mail is maggiedm@yahoo.com if anyone wants to contact me. Great page and thanks to whoever keeps it going! | | | Sharon Sanderson
 | Wed 02 Jan 2002 16:30:54 CET Does anyone remember Mr Lime or Line, he used to be in the Music Department, I know he left in roughly 1990 or 1991, does anyone know where he is now or what he is doing. | | | Ruth Davies
