Loved sport and was Sports captain of Lune..Mrs Hall was PE teacher.Mrs George was music teacher ( still can't sing ! ) I am now a Director of Nursing of a Hospital in Sydney.Have very good memories of Highfield school and would be interested in contacting past students ...in particular Carol Lewis ( always beat me at swimming ) and Maureen Jeffries or anyone else who remebers me or the old times at Highfield. |

 | Tue 25 Dec 2001 10:39:02 CET Moved from Haweside Primary to Highfield in 1954 The Headmaster I think was a JP called Ford. The deputy head Mr Pearson .My form master was Mr Bollington, Bolly for short. The only other teachers I can remember was the woodwork guy ,Mr Sanderson and an ex-navy commander called Bill Yates who was a really good man.We were carefully segregated from the girls school in those days but I do remember falling foul of their head one lunchtime , a very formidable woman called Doreen Bloomer.I left Blackpool in 1961 and joined the army, retired from there in 1983 and now live in Dorchester Dorset.I would like a trip to the old place again if there are any re-unions planned |

 | Tue 18 Dec 2001 03:57:27 CET It is great that sites such as this and Friends Reunited are able to bring back such fun memories! Since leaving school I gained a Mathematics Degree from Bradford Uni (I blame Mr Owen for that!! hehe) and now work for the Halifax developing Internet Applications. If anyone remembers me - it would be great to get back in touch. |
