Highfield Humanities College excels in Outdoor Education.
Our strong links with the Lancashire Outward Bound Association allows pupils in years 9-11 to attend 5 day, 7 day or even 21 day courses at Ullswater (Cumbria), Loch Eil (Highlands) and Aberdovy (Mid-Wales).
Our BTEC PE groups take part in Outdoor Education including an expedition in the hills and overnight camp as part of their course.
We have a thriving Duke of Edinburgh Scheme.
Our links with HSBC Bank allows many Year 8 pupils to be involved in 1 day, 3 day or 5 day Outdoor Education Courses in Cumbria and at Waddow Hall in Lancashire.
Each summer our Year 8 Camp takes place in Cumbria and nearly the whole year group get involved in a wide range of activities over the 5 day event.
We use Water Park Outdoor Education Centre each year for a special SEN Adventure Weekend.
Our SEN Department and Humanities Department regularly take groups of pupils to Beacon Fell Country Park for field work visits.
Any pupils wishing to learn more about the Army can attend a week long training experience at Fulwood Barracks.
We embrace and value outdoor education and believe it is a strength of our school.
